This was a step up from Beautiful Darkness because there was such an expansion to the world and Ethan is just a great character. I also loved Marian and Liv in this book so so much and they made me want to progress with the audiobook. I wanted to know what would happen to those 3. Oh and Macon!
Why did I give it 3.5?
1- Ethan does not talk about what's happening, and maybe we could've figured things out earlier and just ... I don't even know
2- Always and forever LENA. I do not care for her! She is so annoying and what I liked about the previous book was that she wasn't present. Here she is just so annoying, such a poopy pants, always wining and boohoo. I cannot handle her! She makes all these STUPID decisions and cannot accept that there are consequences. She ALWAYS thinks that she is the victim! UHGH i am so tired of her and honestly I wouldn't care if she died.

However the ending was great and such a huge cliffhanger ! Respect for that!

Wow... I finally finished it. It was no real pleasure to read it and I thought I would never finish. Actually I paused quite a lot. It did not grab me until the last about 80 pages. In my opinion this is the worst of all three but I really liked the last part.
I guess if you read the other two books and liked them, you have to read this one. Just to know how the story continues. But if there should be a fourth book, it better be awsome...

This was probably the BEST out of the first three books in the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES series (or CASTER CHRONICLES). It took me awhile to finally finish this book because of all the stuff that has been happening. One if those things is the Boston Marathon Bombing which really messed me up and I just couldn't read AT ALL. Anyway, back to the review...
In this book, Ethan and Lena have returned from the Great Barrier and now that Lena has Claimed herself, things in Gatlin are not the same as they were before...[which could perhaps be cause by the Order of Things being broken because Lena Claimed herself as both Light and Dark]. I liked Ethan a lot more in this book than in the last one for sure. In BEAUTIFUL DARKNESS, he was really mopy and sad because of Lena pulling away and everything with Macon [who's not dead after all! Yay!!!] and Sarafine and just STUFF in general. In this one, Ethan is a whole lot more manly, I guess? He is also starting to lose memories of his past and basic things he's gathered over his 17 years of life.

Lena was better too! Last book, I wanted to slap her in the face because she was being such a b**ch. But, now that she's Claimed herself and all, she and Ethan are starting to get closer again! She also grew up a whole lot more. She is gradually finding out more and more about her mother, Sarafine and her father. This is told in flashbacks which are still REALLY cool. I hope that in the next one, BEAUTIFUL REDEMPTION, we get to see more of Lena growing up as both a Caster and a Mortal.

The ending........ I don't know how to explain it without spoilers. All I can tell you is that the last 30-40 pages are the SADDEST F*CKING PAGES OF ALL TIME! I was legit CRYING MY EYES OUT at the end...I NEVER cry at the end if books (with the exception of THE HUNGER GAMES at that part with Rue...)

I have the last book and will be reading it next so I can officially say that I have read the BEAUTIFUL CREATURES SERIES/CASTER CHRONICLES!
Peace out guys!!

Considering I finished Beautiful Darkness in one day, Beautiful Chaos was a let down. The majority of it was very slow and boring. When there were plot events happening, I was extremely confused. I maybe understood about three things in this book. I really did like the ending, and I can't wait to read the finale!

Now that Ethan has Lena back, he is ready to go back to school and start his junior year. Going back with them are Ethan's best friend, Link, who is now part Incubus, and Lena's cousin Ridley, who is no longer a Siren. This makes for some very interesting school days, to say the least.

Unfortunately, all is not well in Gatlin since the Order of Things has been disrupted. There are swarms of bugs all over town, record high temperatures, and no one seems to be able to grow any crops...even the grass in the front yard is dead. It's up to Ethan, Lena, and the rest of their friends and family to find out how to reset the order and make the world right again.

Of course, this would be easier if Abraham and Sarafine were not still around and trying their best to destroy the town and Ethan along with it. Abraham is on a quest to find his protege John Breed, and Ethan must figure out not only how to keep Abraham and Sarafine at bay, but also just why John is so important to them.

Yes, there are a LOOOOOTTT of things going on in this book. But that's why I loved it. The story kept me compelled the whole way through. I love every single character in these books, and I am now very invested in their stories and the reasons behind why they do the things they do.

Link, now being part Incubus, is referring to himself as the Linkubus. I find that pretty hilarious. He can now take his pick of any girl in town, but it doesn't matter. Ridley still has a hold on him even though her Siren powers are long gone. I love the dynamic between these two, and in a way I think their relationship is more entertaining than Ethan and Lena's.

Ethan and Lena are back together now, but that doesn't mean things are all good, all the time. They sometimes throw jabs at each other for events that happened while they were apart. You hardly ever see this in a book, and I loved it, because it made their relationship seem more realistic. This happens in real people's lives all the time. People just can't let go of the past.

It did take me a little while longer to read this book, but that's because it was so long! That's OK...I loved every single page and I cannot wait for more.
