Carter Donovan and Sydney Carroway should be crowned NHL royalty!!!
This book was hilarious and kept me entertained the whole way through. Sydney is this kick-ass romance author who doesn't take crap from anyone and plays games with all the men in her life. She loves to watch them squirm. Cue Carter Donovan...the newest victim of her games and one of the hottest goalies in the NHL. He is into her from the very beginning and does it best to hold on for everything she puts him through. Honestly, these characters are amazing on their own but when they get together they create a powerhouse that you don't want to put down.
Jillian has a way of making you root for her characters and Carter and Sydney definitely fit the bill. I spent half the book upset because they weren't together yet and the other half of the book ecstatic that they were breaking down each other's walls. I highly recommend that you let Carter and Sydney into your world...you definitely won't regret it.

I really enjoyed this book. The added depth of Carter and Sydney as characters was a great addition. I loved them both as individuals and as a couple. Glad they got their happy ending

Donovan is the third installment in the Face-Off Series. Its just as good as the first 2 books. Carter Donovan is the starting goaltender for the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team. He is a tough player who had been one of the best in the game but for the last season he has struggle with his focus. Carter is use to getting his way with the woman usually choosing to use them one night at a time being a rough lover. Sydney Carroway is a famous erotic author who was raised with a silver spoon in her mouth. She is smart, head-strong & loves control in all aspects of her life. When Carter & Sydney meet on a set up planned by mutual friends both are completely hot for each other. But Sydney likes to play games & make men work for the chance to sleep with her. I don’t know what there is to love more than a great hockey romance. Can't wait for the next one!!

I hated the main character of this book. Sydney claims to be a Normal Woman who isn't entitled and selfish, and yet refuses to give even an inch and compromise with Carter. Throughout the whole book, she insists on being in control of every moment of their relationship, playing games with his head and heart and digging into his deepest insecurities. It was excruciating reading from her perspective trying to justify her actions, and just as bad reading from his perspective about how it made him feel. Hard pass.

Listening to the audiobook, and getting tired of the female narrator. I'm not sure I will continue on this series as I don't like the narrator, and the books keeps getting worse. I liked this book less than the other two. The female lead was manipulative, and I disliked her behaviour. I wish Carter had dumped her and found another (more deserving) girlfriend.
Some words were repeted too many times, and you think: "Wait, I've heard this word before!" I wish the author could have been a bit more creative with her writing, because this was painful to read/listen to.
