Omu is amazing but she should have been able to have some of her own damn soup 🥲 Sharing is caring but it is possible to share too much! #OmuDeservedBetter

Very sweet book which might be best for older preschool - 7-year-olds. There is repetition and my children were able to guess what was going to happen for most of the book.

I love the lesson that kindness can/should be repaid in kindness. Omu gave so much to her friends and community members. They all appreciate her and showed her that they do.

Such a sweet story of community and sharing and love. Omu makes a yummy red stew, and is looking forward to it all day, but many come to her doorway sniffing it out. She shares with all, but has none left for her dinner! Her guests come back to surprise her in the end.

As charming as the story is, as the Caldecott medal would suggest, the illustrations are the star here. I love this collage style, and the choices of media work so well to support and elevate the story.
