Had me hooked from the beginning and second-guessing all the way through
The story of a family that hikes deep into the mountains of Montana so that Mom can bury her ghosts. Not far into the book the 10-year-old daughter disappears. Is she lost? Is she dead? Was she abducted? The storytelling is gripping, so much so that even though the author tells you the story from different sides, you will still second-guess your conclusions. This was a great read, and I will be looking for more of Rick Mofina's books!

It sounded so promising and intriguing. A fine start... and then the story lost control and momentum. Then they lost my interest. 70% of the way through and I just can't take anymore of this author's ponderous writing.

Very good read. Suspenseful and gripping, will frustrate you, grip you, and keep you involved!

Just okay--lots of typos and editing mistakes. And too many characters to try to keep track of. Not the best use of my reading time.

Agree with many of the other reviews. Too many ideas and characters, not enough proofreading.

Excellent book. Well worth reading. I couldn't put it down. Loved the way the author switched between characters.

I didn't realize, when I started this book, that it was the second in a series. I don't really like coming in in the middle. This book, though, did a really good job about not seeming like a sequel, it was definitely a stand alone book.
The problem I had were the predictability of the story. Many of the "twists" were so obviously set up, that I found myself waiting for them to happen rather than being surprised by them.
I did like the characters for the most part, though Emily's (the main female) silence seemed kind of unfathomable to me, and I really couldn't relate. Instead, as a reader, it just frustrated me.
The ending was exciting, though how could it not be. Getting there, took a little bit of patience.
