There's an acute sense of longing that unmistakably woven throughout the book. This is my first time encountering Anni Liu's work, and I must say I adore her use of visceral language and her openness when sharing her immigrant stories. A blend of childhood and adulthood memories, the collection takes the reader on an emotive, introspective journey while honoring Chinese traditions and language.

This is a book with some stunning poems (“Solstice”, “What No One Told You,” “Hypnogogia”), and there were only a handful of poems I didn’t like! Deserves to be on everyone’s to read list.
