Jonah is trying to work on his own demons while trying to help Talon uncover the others responsible for what happened. Melanie is the one who has been helping Talon but feelings for Jonah make it hard for her to help him. Things heat up quickly for these two and both are trying to overcome mistakes. Melanie’s life is put at risk when she is abducted and almost dies like her patient Gina. This brings all new feelings to the surface for not only Melanie but also Jonah. He feels responsible for what happened because he was upset and didn’t answer her phone call. Secrets are revealed and there are surprises and shocks that are played out.

How Long Do I Have to Wait for the Next Installment?

Just finished "Burn", the 5th book in Helen Hardt's Steel Brothers series and I can hardly wait for the next one. Helen Hardt's series is mystery and intrigue couple with romance. It is easy to become attached to her characters and to feel what they are feeling. The story line has more than enough twists and turns to keep readers flying through the pages. I have read all 5 books in this series and couldn't put any of them down. Now I'll have to settle down and wait for Book 6.

I tried with this series but I could not get on with the characters compared to the previous books.

Melanie turned out to be too whiney and would say one thing but then contradict herself and make Jonah do what she initially wanted. Jonah was very alpha and domineering but throughout the start of their relationship, he kept reiterating how he didn't want to push her too far and that she wasn't ready for it all. It was too cringe.

The story had great potential and I wanted the series to be gripping especially with the plot that runs throughout but I really lost interest and couldn't carry on.

Okay, full disclaimer. The first 3 books of the Steel Saga had me in such an emotional mess, in all the best ways, that I was seriously wondering how books 4, 5, and 6 would top the experience. All of these books are slow-burn stories, much in the style of a Gabaldon or Deveraux (though a lot steamier, thank God!), that build you up to the "OMG" moments with such strategic storytelling, you're left gasping from them--then dying because the climax was that damn good. Book 5, "Burn" doesn't disappoint on any of those levels. Jonah Steele's hero caliber definitely climbed for me with this one--I'm such a goner for a dominant, brooding man--and what can I say about Melanie except that she's the heroine we'd all want to be in similar circumstances. A REALLY great read, leaving me longing for Book 6 already!

I think this has been my favorite book so far in the series.....less sex, more plot. A lot happened in this book, to Melanie, Jonah, Bryce, etc. I am ready to move to the next book to see how the story unfolds.
