Celaena is introduced to our world before TOG with action and Sam that we all wondered about in the first book. That is, if you’re like me and didn’t read the novellas BEFORE reading the first of the series. It is a simple, easy, action filled read. I loved the dynamics between Celaena and Sam. Sam was the level headed killer and Celaena…well she is a stone cold one that prefers to act on her gut feelings.

I still really don't like Celaena, but I enjoyed this short story a lot more than I did Throne of Glass - it's really interesting to see what was going on before she ended up in Endovier, and I really love Sam, he's so great!

I think it was a pretty good novella. And a great way to start the story and tell us who the main character is. However I think the main character we follow needs a attitude adjustment sometimes Haha
