There is so much here in terms of content. I really enjoy how embedded the voodoo culture and myths are spread out throughout the volume. I had some issues with the art, especially in some of the later issues where it seemed blurred. Could be the e-book copies I was reading, but it seemed intentional. The story does get a little repetitive by the end with some of the characters that were a big part of the first volume seemingly shoved in so you don't forget them. I'll finish the series in hopes that more of loa show up.

Same review as Vol. 1: I'm a huge fan of Hopkinson's work, so I was definitely looking forward to this series even though I waited until the issues became graphic novels. I knew nothing of the Sandman universe, but I still found Hopkinson's take to be thorough and great as a standalone series. Overall, the artwork is incredible and her distinct writing style and knack for storytelling come clear through. I won't go into plot points to avoid spoilers for the whole series, but I will say for those of us who want more stories about Black cultural and religious traditions, this should be right up our alley.

Still a little patchy, but the pieces were all... just so enjoyable I can't help but rate it highly.
