While the mystery/thriller aspect of this book fell a bit flat in the last third or so of the book, I still found it wildly entertaining and quite often darkly funny, and I loved it overall. I would have liked just a little more of a creepiness factor, maybe a little more of a sinister feel to the antagonist, but that's a pretty minor complaint and I definitely got everything I expected out of this book based on things I've read from this author in the past. I look forward to watching the TV series to see how it compares.

This was a wild ride, it definitely took a turn around 75% and then the plot speed up and so many things happened. Not the biggest fan of that pacing but it was pretty entertaining.

Nine people decide to attend a 10-day cleanse at a health resort. They each have their own reasons, worries, problems, histories, and relationships. A lot of them chose this health resort for it's unconventional and highly praised methods because they're desperate... to lose weight, to mend their marriage, to right their path in life. But unconventional soon turns into downright weird. Dangerous, even.

Nine Perfect Strangers is a book about how people see themselves and how others see them. How people change and how they don't. How we can control our lives and how we can't. It's about our choices, our assumptions, and the funny road that life takes you down sometimes.

Nine Perfect Strangers is billed as a thriller, but it's not the fast-paced plot that leaves you reeling. It's the characters. They're somehow darkly funny. There are some pretty heavy issues addressed in this book, but it still manages not to take itself too seriously. Moriarty even pokes fun at herself as an author and her own storyline within the book.

If you like good character development and a focus on the characters' flaws and journey, this is a good read for you.
If you're looking for a fast-paced plot with big twists, you might be a bit let down. There are some twists, for sure, but it's not the focus of the story.
