My second King book and certainly not my last. The writing was satisfying and it had the tension and emotion I enjoy from him.

I found the setting, pacing, and length to suit the story perfectly. It felt lonely, discomforting, and altogether an anxious account of events.

The characters were light on detail and not much development seemed to happen with them. I don’t know if that was deliberate, but it left me wanting for more to love/hate in them.

The plot itself was okay, a good and miserable tale. Like the characters, it felt hasty - almost as if the story itself was a passing daydream that never really fleshes out.

I enjoyed the way the story is written:
a confession written by a clearly broken man. Although, I found it hard to believe someone would continuously write a confession such as this, let alone with some sections forming simple exposition.

Overall, a good book, just not one I found difficult to put down.

A really gruesome King take on a criminal confession pre-Great Depression era. I could really feel, smell, taste whatever is being described. Solid narration and exposition, as usual. With twists that one would not see coming.

An intresting book. I really enjoyed it, I find it to be more disturbing than many other King books. All in all, I thought the book was very good.

Not all of King's short stories are good, but this one sure hit the spot. Admittedly, I liked the first half better than the second half. It was good, but I felt it went in a direction I wasn't as interested in.
