This book layered up perspectives on and pieces of Weylyn Grey's life in such a magnificent way. I loved the pacing and different voices of the characters and the story felt familiar in a comforting and interesting way, like a best friend. It was full of lovely fantasy and great heart.

I glanced at a few reviews before I read this book and someone called it "a warm hug." I would have to agree - it's the sweetest, tightest, happiest, and saddest hug all at the same time. It reads so quickly; I read 80% of it in a single sitting. I'd just come off reading a string of books that either weren't for me or weren't very good, depending on how generous I felt that day, and Ruth Emmie Lang was a breath of fresh air.

It's all told from the perspective of those who met, cared about, and experienced Weylyn Grey, a man who was raised by wolves and has "weird" things happen around him all the time. Perspective changes frequently as Weylyn moves through his life, but each perspective is unique and thoughtful and endearing in their own peculiar ways, marked by the strange boy they encounter at varying stages of his growth, acceptance, and understanding of himself and the "weird" things that happen around him.

I highly recommend this book - but make sure you have an open day ahead of you before getting started. You won't want to step away from Weylyn and Mary and Roarke and Lydia and Micah and Duane and Mrs. Lowry and Bobby and Nelson.

Weylyn Grey has always been different. Orphaned at a young age, he lived undiscovered with a wolf pack for years until he befriended a human girl and was later placed with a foster family. His alternative upbringing is not the only unusual thing about Weylyn though - nature appears to behave oddly whenever he's around, whether it's the cluster of animals visiting his room in the night or the storms that appear whenever he's upset. Weaving through time and the perspectives of the people who meet him along the way, Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance tells the story of Weylyn's life.
The unique, well-developed characters and short chapters engage the reader immediately and keeps the story moving until the end. The hint of magic appeals to fantasy fans without putting off those who prefer to stay grounded in reality. A great read for anyone who loves books revolving around interpersonal relationships.

Wonderful book!

The unique story is told from multiple POVs which worked very well. I enjoyed that the story setting moved around the U.S. and combined fictional towns with some real. The book grabbed me from the start and I finished it in one day. It was hard to put down.

Well thought out characters. Our protagonist Weylyn is a complex character with a tragic past who possesses powers that impact the lives around him. The people he comes in contact are varied and relatable.

This is a charming book. The way that we get to learn about Weylyn from others makes him all the more charming. It has a good amount of sweet romance and a just right amount of magic.
