My biggest gripe with this book was about the name of the main character. What kind of nickname is Seph?? Just call him Joseph at this point. I actually thought it was Seth for a while because I was listening to the audiobook.

The plot was fine. It was pretty entertaining and I enjoyed how the story panned out, but I felt like it was just missing something for me. Maybe it’s just that I couldn’t really connect with the characters in any way. I definitely liked Seph though, he had some good character development. I think the issue with this series is that there are SO MANY characters that none of them are super fleshed out and we don’t really go into much detail about them. I would like to learn more about Linda and Hastings’ mysterious past. There are a million books left in this series so I might just continue on, who knows.

Just as good as the first! A page turner, it kept my interest and kept me guessing!

This sequel surpasses the first book with its faster pace and immediate immersion into the established world. While a slight mid-point lull disrupts the momentum, the engaging story and likeable protagonist, Seph, make up for it. Getting to know Seph well leaves you hoping for his continued presence in the next book. Overall, this is a significant improvement, and hopefully, the series continues this upward trend.

I'm so so so sad but I couldn't bring myself to finish this. I felt no interest for the characters or the story, unfortunately. :/

It was amazing. I loved it! I was really hoping for something like this, how *two certain very important characters* would actually be involved with each other!

It was super fun to return to this alternate world and meet new characters and be told a brand new story with familiar faces. It was a lot darker and more brutal, but the story was extremely strong and engrossing. The finale definitely got my heart going and I wasn't sure how things were going to play out.

Seph is a great character with a complicated past tied to other characters. I kind of guessed the twist before it was revealed, but it still carried a lot of weight. I also found Jason to be a lot of fun, and would like to see more of Madison. There was also a deeper look into Linda and Leander's relationship and its consequences. The villains were also pretty dastardly, and I'm not sure how they're going to be topped.

The first book was very strong, but this one amplified everything tenfold. While it can technically stand alone, there is enough to leave me eager and excited to read the next book. I absolutely loved it!
