Honestly, the number of plot twists that left me blabbering incoherently should have made this book amazing, but I just could. not. get over that romance. It was just blegh and ruined the entire book for me.

Hmmm...I'm not sure where I sit with this one.
Originally, after I'd finished book 1, I wasn't sure I'd continue. The weaving and explanations got so confusing at the end, I wasn't sure what to make of it all.
But this was tied a lot of that together for me. It explained a little more and gave a lot of details about Earth and how thing started and how it all went down. You also learn some secrets you didn't even know where being kept from Adelice.
and although it was all really interesting, I'm not sure I 100% bought off on the explanations.

I think I'm only giving this one 3.5 stars. I still think this trilogy is clever as hell, but I also think this book suffered from middle-of-the-trilogy syndrome—where more explanation than action happens. And while the explanation was fascinating and necessary, there wasn't much action, mostly people just moving in circles. Plus I am not sold on the love interests, unfortunately, so I'm hoping for a growth in the strength of that plotline in book three. BUT if book three goes nearly as well as book one, then this trilogy holds a place in my all-time favorites.

Good for a second book in a series. Anxiously awaiting the next one.
