There’s a lot to like in this volume. John is taken out of the city and made the fish out of water in a hippie caravan. The story is given ample room to take its time and build a unique, vast conspiracy that pulls in all kinds of ideas that are a little cringe now but we’re probably more novel and interesting at the time of writing.

Well, what's there to say about this? There's lots of hippies, and government conspiracies, and towards the end a lot of mixing of mythologies that don't really mesh all that well to create a deus ex machina. I'm not entirely sure this comic made any sense. It starts off well enough, a mystical girl is kidnapped by the badies who want to use her powers for evil and Constantine needs to save her. But it all falls apart towards the end, and Constantine does literally nothing except maybe act like some sort of dildo? I honestly don't know, I think Delano just pulled the last 20 pages out of his ass after a bad trip.

This sort of thing, even more so than the first two volumes, was definitely my bag.

I wish the art style of these comics was less messy and more.. I don't know. Deep. I don't read many comics so maybe objectively it isn't bad but personally i hate it. And the story in this volume went completely off the rails. It's total chaos, none of the things lead to another and I was completely lost through the major part of it. Also it wasn't gripping at all. But then again, how could i feel captured by the story when it made no sense. Here's to hoping the next one will be better - i love constantine's character but the writers did a really bad job with this one

3.5 stars. Convoluted, too many loose ends. Great art.
