This is such a closed mystery - seven people, one killed, the accused dead and your left to figure out if the accused was telling the truth in her innocence or one of the other five are the true murderer.

Aggie loves to throw you for a loop and I wont deny I fell for her suggestions of the reason caroline Crale did what she did. She got me good. I had initial suspicions as to the truth but I did not make it to the reveal with them at the front of my mind.

Good pacing, neat laying of clues throughout and a charming atmosphere that really works with Poirot going between the characters for their recollection of the events, although the recollections of the same events could come across as tedious and make for a slower read to keep facts straight on who said what

Wow wow wow wow!! There are so many ways this story could have turned out happier and none of them happened. Talk about being doomed by the narrative.

"Of course I hadn't quite as much experience then as I have now. All the same I think I did all that could humanly be done. We did get it commuted to penal servitude. Provocation, you know. Lots of respectable wives and mothers got up a petition. There was a lot of sympathy for her."
This was an okay mystery for me. It was a typical "cheating husband's dead, all evidence points to the wife, but years after wife's death, their child (usually a daughter) has some evidence to the contrary that the wife didn't kill her husband." This isn't a terrible setup for a mystery - it works, and with good reason. I think Five Little Pigs really sets up the groundwork for future books with similar setups, especially the marital drama murder mystery. But I don't think this was the kind of mystery for me, whether or not it's family drama.

after reading this I watched knives out 2: glass onion recently and I can say proudly that Agatha would've been proud of Rian Johnson

This is definitely famous for a reason. After reading so many of her works it's harder for me to give them higher ratings. However, this was so good. I loved the resolution, everything made sense and I'm quite satisfied with the ending. The only reason I didn't give this a higher rating is there were some of its time elements.
Also she was a minor???? I wish she wrote her a bit older what is this?
