What a gorgeous, awe-inspiring book! I love everything about it, and reading it gave me so much hope. I can't wait to share it with my students! #weneeddiversebooks
A beautiful book with a beautiful message, All Because You Matter is a perfect example of the importance of representation. It honestly brought tears to my eyes. Highly recommend!
The collage illustrations in this book are beautiful and I love the acknowledgments that Black identities are multifaceted, including Afro-Latine experiences. I struggled with the language of connecting greatness to empire and monarchy.
Beautiful love poem written for the author's son, to "provide parents with a starting point for conversations about the racial climate in our country today," and "to remind all children, especially those from marginalized backgrounds that no matter where they come from, they matter."
Lovely. I’m not sure if the words or the illustrations are my favorite. Both combine well to tell the story of a face reflected in the turned pages that “you matter.” Knowing we are only just now telling POC this in picture books demands more of them to be published. Windows and doors.
The author wrote this book as a gateway to discuss "the racial climate" in our country. To proudly tell all Black children that they matter and that they descended from people who built empires and pyramids. That you are the hope of your ancestors. Explains that there are people who will judge you by the color of your skin and that they may physically hurt you. Also, names Trayvon, Tamir, and Philando and the BLM movement.
The words and the artwork are amazing as it's message - you matter!
This is a powerful, affirming book that all people should read. We are matter, we matter, we have always mattered. The imagery affirming this for a young black child is especially powerful. Thank you, Tami Charles!
An important book, with a message all children deserve to hear.
Collier's illustrations are a wonder -- not to be missed.

We have created a world where little boys needs to be told this, in this way. Not just about themselves. And they recognize the names of men who don't appear to have mattered. But they did. And they do.
