This book definitely wasn't as good as the greats in this series, but it was enjoyable.

The story had more of a focus on court / political intrigue with less associated action than the others so far, and I got bogged down in it a bit at times. It was still good, though, and the last 1/3 was very engaging.

The Vorkosigan Saga is our new evening TV substitute. The plot adventures are better than our hour long dramas, and the humor is funnier than our sitcoms. And they're easy enough to breeze through that we can pick them up at the end of a day when we're not up for much more than staring straight ahead. This episode is "The One With the Super Pretty Ladies in Personal Bubble Cars, Miles Framed for Stealing Important Stuff To Start a War, with Ivan Along for Backup and Comic Relief."

4 stars. The mystery wasn't as compelling to me but the world here was gorgeously portrayed. I want to go there SO bad.

I lost steam a bit on this series, I ended up reading "Brothers In Arms" before realizing I had skipped a couple so I am back tracking. Its not as enjoyable when that happens but once again, this is a fabulous story.

Miles, poor Miles, he just wants a lady love for himself. I am pretty sure it was his secret motivation for wanting to solve this political nightmare of a situation, so he could get a haut Lady of his own. Not happening dude :) He listed every other legitimate reason for following this story thru except the deepest one of his heart...

I loved the banter between him and Ivan, just like brothers:

“All right,” he said at last, “but after we talk to her, we report to ImpSec.”
“Ivan, I am ImpSec,” snapped Miles. “Three years of training and field experience, remember? Do me the honor of grasping that I may just possibly know what I’m doing!”
I wish to hell I knew what I was doing.
--------------
"I figure we can tell events exactly as they happened, just leave out that one tiny detail.”
“You figure, do you? You must be using a different kind of math than the rest of the universe does."

We all need someone we can trust to keep us humble, even the "idiot" Ivan.
