After reading Grant Morrissons "New X-Men" I'm now reading up to "Avengers Disassembled" to start my first exposure to the (supposedly very entertaining) Marvel comics of the modern age (2004 and after) and all its events including House of M, Civil War, Planet Hulk, Hickmans Fantastic Four, Straczynskis Thor etc.

Nights of Wundagore contains stories about the origins of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Both new characters for me, and this was a very decent introduction. The history of the characters was summarized in an entertaining way, their relationship with the Avengers was laid out, their childhood issues were explained, and some mystical (magical) concepts were introduced. Although it felt a little bit dated, I was still entertained and even intrigued by the Scarlet Witch and her potential adventures. Looking forward to reading more about her!

Not my absolute favorite. This story is mostly about Wanda and Pietro learning more about their backgrounds and, of course, what happens to Scarlet Witch in most stories happens here. She just can't catch a break.

In what feels like an extremely ignorant and bigoted take on "affirmative action" policies, Falcon is pressured into joining the Avengers. You know, since Black Panther is focusing on things in Wakanda, they need a token black guy and if that take wasn't bad enough, every single Avenger except Steve treats Sam like sh*t. Which is even more f*cked up considering Steve literally tells him "If you don't join, the Avengers will lose their priority status". So, Sam's doing them a favor he was against completely and being treated like sh*t for it. Thanks.

So, aside from watching Carol and especially Clint act like assh*les to someone who was just trying to help, the story also treats Sam like he can't do anything right. Not a great story, makes the Avengers look like d*cks and just made me feel sorry for Falcon. He's way nicer than me because I would've quit. Love you, Cap, but I wouldn't put up with that.
