Ghosts, historical homes, old towns, mystery, and a kindling romance.... what's more to love?!

I think this one was a bit easier to read, but still not my favorite of White's books. I believe I will not read another in this series.

I was so excited for this book but it just didnt live up to the expectation for me. I loved the first one and the relationships developing but they were simply not there in the second. The paranormal plotline was also MUCH more 'cringe' this time around and I found myself rolling my eyes.

The first star lost is because I hate Rebecca with a passion. She is a disobedient, nosy, lying and conniving nuisance. I found Melanie charming in the first book but found her annoyingly oblivious and dumbed-down in this one. No one in their right mind would be able to keep from telling Rebecca to f*** off. The whole "family" piece doesn't make her any less insufferable.

I was going to overlook the Rebecca hate and give 4 stars because I understand the need to keep series "fresh and new" BUT..... Jack's baby?? The surprise at the end is grasping for straws to try and keep readers on their toes when the (already turmoil filled) budding romance between Jack and Melanie was enough.

I'm going to read the third because I have it but I dont know if I'll be able to continue the series after the author butchered the characters and plot lines.
