I tried to be disciplined. I tried to stick to my tbr...I failed. But like define failure. A win is a win.

So we learn a lot in The Shadow of the Gods. We get loads of details on the characters, the objectives of the main POVs, the culture, the gods...everything you need to know da da da da, silver platter. In the The Hunger of the Gods, we just sit pretty with our

This was a fantastic read. Everything good from the first book was in here, and even more. The action scenes were well written, the characters and plot were fantastic, and everything in this novel was a joy to read.
Well, except for 2 factors, which brought the rating down to a 4/5: one was one of the POV characters being the worst character possible, and his miserable self-serving nature being odious to read. The second was the child cruelty. The missing children from the first novel appear in this novel more prominently, and a fair number of them are abused both mentally and physically by the villains. While it is very effective at making the reader hate these villains, it also removes some of the moral nuance trying to be introduced into the series, and also makes reading those segments difficult.
Overall, a fantastic read, marred by two loathsome aspects bringing it down one star.

WOW
I love this even more than book 1. It was so fast-paced, and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I can't say enough about how cool this world is...the creatures, the gods, the characters. Perfection! The ending?! Immediately pre-ordering book 3!
