Really fun to read, some that made you really think and were hard to understand but at the end of each short story it pulls it altogether and makes the confusion worth it! There are some really good psychological thrillers short stories in there !

I received this book of my own free will for an honest review.

I really liked it a lot, this 12 stories are so interesnting and creppy on their own, they were so light at the beginning and then they will scalate little by little until the end you will think like omg that just like really happened?

liked them a lot, everyone should hear them for halloween.

Excellent collection of dark and sometimes funny short stories. Maybe only funny if you have a twisted sense of humor.

Some of these short stories were better than others but none were particularly thought-provoking.

Wow! I am a fan of short stories if they are well written and JT Lawrence is outstanding! Not every story was for me, but Lawrence’s writing pulls you in and you quickly get through each short story all the way up to the unexpected endings. These stories are dark, twisted, and delightful! It was perfect for me to listen to in the car during my commute to and from work. I will share a brief review of each of the twelve stories written below.

I had previously purchased this on my Kindle, but the author sent Kim and I an Audible version. Lawrence is from South Africa and I believe that the narrator is as well. Due to my hearing issues, I had to adjust to the narrator’s accent but I enjoyed the narration. She is clear and well spoken.

Bridge Gate
I enjoyed the communication via letter for father and daughter. I quickly figured out where dad was located. I enjoyed the letters as we saw Emily grow up. I wanted to know more about dad.

The Itch
This one would be a living nightmare! I had to scratch and did throughout this one! I dare you to NOT scratch while reading this one. I still scratch thinking about this story!

The Unsuspecting Gold Digger
I did not see that ending coming! OMG….. That is all I can say.

Traveling Slacks
This was my favorite of all the stories. It is a hidden gem. If you work with the public at all you will love this one! If only we could actually say what we think….

Something Borrowed

Another twist I did not see coming. There are so many emotions with this one. I thought it was going in one direction but it was a in reality a complete 180.

She Did It
Who is the victim and who is the suspect? What is going to happen next? Who is helping the detective?

Grey Magic
I enjoyed this one was different as it dealt with magic and witches. I’m hoping this was an introduction of sorts to the novel of the same name that Lawrence has written.

Pigeon Pair
This one freaked me out. Though I have never seen the movie The Birds, I kept thinking of it while listening to this one. I loved the ending!

The Little Pink Book
Being a midwife and helping to deliver babies should be a wonderful thing… shouldn’t it??? I wanted more to this story!!!

Off the Hinge
This one is a schizophrenic mess and that is the point. Can someone just get the lady some milk!?!?!

Sticky Fingers
What happens when you have ‘sticky fingers’? Let’s hope it doesn’t end the way this short story did with that surprising ending!

Escape
A suicidal baby. He knows he is in the wrong family and wants to correct that error. This one won’t be for everyone, but it makes you wonder just how cognitive babies really are….

A Great collection of short stories!

I'm a big fan of short stories and this book is one of the reasons I love reading them so much. Great characters and great story telling. I usually give a summary review of each story in a collection. But there's no need for that every one of them are good.

This collection of 12 short stories are interesting and well written, like most collections some are better than others.
My issue with this is that it was described as horror and dark. Apart from the story titled 'Itch' these stories do not fit that description.
If you are looking to read some interesting short stories this is good, but if you are looking for dark or horror stories I cannot recommend this collection.

A collection of humorous horrific short stories with uniquely South African details, what a treat. These short stories suck you in, chew you up and spit you out going ‘whhaaattt’! I think that each and every story had me shocked at the end with the twist, so well written with a fantastic flow I finished them all in one day.

Each story is unique in story line and the characters, it’s quite amazing that all of these stories are written by the same author as each character and story has such a different voice and unexpected story line with quite a few ending on quite the cliff hanger. There are many themes in this collection of stories, murder, mental illness and magic are just a few to look forward to.

Bridge Gate – A great intro to the book, written in letters this one messes with your emotions.

The Itch – A very real look at mental illness that will have you scratching.

The Unsuspecting Gold Digger – Just how twisted are these stories going to get?

Travelling Slacks – I love the sarcasm and revenge in this story, again a very unique way to tell the story, just so good!

Something Borrowed – Wow just wow. Another emotion roller coaster looking again at mental health with a twisted ending that left my jaw hanging open.

She Did It – Is she the suspect or the victim? Maybe she’s both? Or will there be another twist?

Grey Magic – A bit of scandal and a bit of ‘magic’ or is she just a con artist, you decide.

Pigeon Pair – This story just made me feel uncomfortable, but that was most likely the intention as is with all these stories.

The Little Pink Book – A heart warming story with a plot twist that leaves you wanting more.

Off The Hinge – A very real and very scary look into an extreme mental patient. What is real and what is just the crazy talking?

Sticky Fingers – This was my favorite story, a perfect family with a secret. What will be their undoing?

Escape – How much do babies really understand about the world around them? How aware are they of themselves? This one knows he isn’t where he should be.
