In a word, phenomenal! I read this passionate paranormal in one day. Sokach serves the goddess of the Underworld, and has for centuries. Lately, someone is stealing souls from the goddess and threatening her power. Sokach is determined to determine who and why, but he's sidetracked by his queen's love of sweets and the arrival of the bakery food truck, the Sugar Bean.
Blue, owner and proprietor of the Sugar Bean, has been through hell and back with an abusive boyfriend who left her nearly dead and dead broke. When the dashing, handsome Sokach asks her to work directly for the owner of a nearby restaurant, she's blithely unaware of the identity of her new employer. And when she discovers the truth about their identities, she'll not only put her heart but her very life on the line. This is a stunning debut novel. One or two tricky spelling/word issues that a sharp editor's eye should have picked up (vise vs. vice), but those are nitpicks that don't detract from the story. A refreshing new voice you simply must try!
