Although this is the 16th book in the BabyMouse series, this was my first experience with the cute and sassy BabyMouse. In this book, BabyMouse decides to run for student council president. She doesn't take it very seriously at first, but as the story progresses, she realizes that her voice and opinions really do matter. Of course things don't always go her way which as she likes to say is "typical", but this just adds to her charm.

The biggest obstacle she faces in the election is that she's up against meangirl Felicia Furrypaws, the very tall Georgie Giraffe, and the adorable Santiago Seal. I found myself laughing out loud when you find out that even her locker is running (I especially appreciated it's slogan "Vote for Locker! I am made of metal!"). This series is great for those who love silly humor and can appreciate a flawed but spunky main character. BabyMouse for President is an excellent choice to read and share in this election year.

Another winner for the Babymouse series! The timing is, of course, impeccable, with this being an election year. Babymouse is her usual, typical self: humorous, imaginative, and a bit out in left field. The supporting characters are strong in this book with the tight race for student council president. I always appreciate the thinly veiled pop culture/history references (Nixon, Obama, founding fathers...) This book is perfect for sharing with students of all ages. Connections can be made with campaigns, slogans, debates, etc. It's not just a cute graphic novel -- it's great for teaching, re-reading, and most of all...sharing!

Babymouse is running for Student body president and the competition is fierce. Babymouse actually finds her voice in this one and what she believes in.

I have fun reading these little stories. They are lighthearted and the character has been endeared to me. This went down quick. I did offer to let my niece read this one and she isn't interested. Bummer.
