I really enjoyed this book. There were things that bugged me, of course (PoV shifts and the interchanging use of caste/class systems), but overall it was a really interesting book. It stands alone, I find, in that there is no desperate rush to read the next in the series. There's a hint of more to come, that there's another story there, but there is still a definitive ending, which is my preference in a series.

I liked the way language was used. Italics were used to set off when people were speaking in one of the higher languages, so it was easy to tell when Charlie shouldn't have been able to understand the language. At times it felt like maybe there was an over-abundance in italics, but the fact that Charlie prefers the basic language helped a lot. It was definitely the most unique way I've seen used to distinguish between the different classes.

No pasa casi nada.

I got just over a third of the way through and lost steam. I decided to read the last couple of chapters to see what happened in the end, and I'm happy to pass reading the rest of this.

I feel like I would've enjoyed this more if I'd read it years ago, but it doesn't have that special something for me to enjoy now.

The plot was quite good and different from others. The characters sometimes were annoyingly plain, they just ask for more layers. But nontheless I enjoyed it from cover to cover.

Gripping, unusual and exiting book with an interesting dystopian-fantasy society, great characters and easy-to-read style of writing. Highly recommended!

I loved this book.
I loved this book.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!

I don't know why it's so damn hard for me
to write a review. I do better in vlog form
so I will just say that this was a great read, it's dystopian, and the story line was insane.

I loved the characters, except for Max who I didn't care for AT ALL! I kind of feel like the author threw him in to add a love interest. It didn't hurt the book but it wasn't necessarily needed. The book would have been awesome without a love interest. I loved the world Kimberly built and I don't expect people to read this thinking it will happen in the future. It won't. This book, even though it is dystopian has elements of Fantasy, which I ATE UP! I loved it. I don't know many dystopian novels that mess with fantasy/supernatural elements and I would love to find more. (PS. my debut dystopian "Hollow" has some elements of... well you'll find out when you read it.) So I loved this book and I hope it's a standalone, because the ending was PERFECT! If there are more books, I probably won't read them because I like how this ended. YES. Okay, I'm done. Go read this book.

Loved the Max, I have a thing for hot sweet boys. Didn't love Charlaina, but I tend to dislike female "heroic" characters... And the story.... Well, I didn't get why he fell so head-over-heels in love with her, enough to risk everything, after seeing one time. So... Yeah...
