Because I'm ND myself, I'm obsessed with the way the story was written. It just makes so much more sense. Only wish was that either the people interviewed read out their responses or another voice actor, because sometimes it was hard to know who was talking
Graphic: Ableism and Bullying
Moderate: Child abuse, Mental illness, Emotional abuse, Pregnancy, and Toxic relationship
Minor: Racism

I am not emotional enough in the ways people expect, and too emotional in ways they do not like to see. [...] I don't ask the right questions or care about the right things. I don't thank people as much as they seem to want to be thanked. I like to be alone a lot more than other people, and I need things to be a certain way. [...] I have felt like the wrong kind of daughter, the wrong kind of sister, and the wrong kind of friend.
I have yet to see someone who hasn't been correct in their self-diagnosis. People are experts on themselves.
Graphic: Child abuse, Pandemic/Epidemic, Pregnancy, and Animal death
Moderate: Bullying, Ableism, Medical content, Domestic abuse, Religious bigotry, Grief, and Mental illness
Minor: Medical trauma, Lesbophobia, Cancer, Fatphobia, Body shaming, Homophobia, and Toxic friendship

Oh my god I loved this book. I loved listening to Kay Kerr and I fell in love with Chloe, Jess, Michael, Noor and Tim. The depth of detail in these lived experiences gave me much deeper insight into what autism is, and is not. It broke my heart in pieces, and healed me too. I need to get my hands on a hard copy to record the further reading, which is something you don't get with an audiobook, at least not through BorrowBox.
