I wish that I could leave more than five stars!

I recently read another of Johnson’s poetry collections and I was blown away, so when I found this anthology I was overjoyed. I can’t put my finger on exactly why Johnson’s lyrical style moves me so much, but there’s something about the selection of words, phrasing and emotional honesty that really just does it for me.

These poems may not be about as personally touching a topic as those in Adding the Subtractions but that doesn’t dampen their ability to move the reader. There’s a wide variety of subject matter here, and it is approached with a true poet’s eye. Tiny details and broader observations work together to paint perfect poetry.

This is a book that I will be recommending to anyone who will listen.
