Big city dentist Sal inherits a cozy woodland estate when her childhood friend, Claire, meets an untimely death. Sal leaves everything behind and launches herself to St Stephenshire to find out about her death, the inheritance and the town itself. Without her knowing, she doesn’t miss her city life and finds comfort in her new found family. Could Sal find all the answers she is looking for in this cozy little town?
As the title suggests, the book has cozy written all over from start to finish. It makes you want to visit this town, have a cup of pumpkin spice latte reading a book in a cozy little corner in a cafe. Love St Stephenshire, its bookshop and cafe in particular. I love the friendships of Sal and Claire though I sometime wish that Claire as her own POV as well. I’m interested to hear her thoughts on a lot of things. She seems like a good friend to have. I love the found family, when they matter most than blood relatives, but also I’m just as sad with Sal’s relationship with her own family. I wish they could support her all the way in times she needed them most. While it’s an interesting start, the middle part slows down but it picks up again on the last third of the book. There are also a few times that makes me think and wonder things about the friendships Sal formed, their intentions while keeping secrets from each other, the importance of ones actions, leaving me wanting for more.

It’s kind of inspiring since the main lead dropped everything to settle in a town that she’s not used to! Though the reason at first is kind of inconsolable, it still gave her a chance to move forward in life and I love that! It might be a slow read, but I think that’s the point of the story. To slow down and get cozy. 🥹
