ספר מותח ומוצלח, שבהחלט הותיר עלי חותם ורושם, מאוד אפקטיבי מתחילתו ועד סופו.
בניגוד לאופן המקובל היום, הספר אינו מעמיד דילמת הזדהות של טובים ורעים (למשל כפי שנעשה בסדרה האמריקאים) עד השליש האחרון של הספר בו נעשה מאמץ מעט דידקטי להאיץ תהליכים אצל הדמויות וזה מרגיש מעט מאולץ ושטוח.
הספר שוטף וקולח ואחז בי לכל אורכו, קראתי בשקיקה וסיום הספר מצוין לטעמי.

Read this after his other one, though this is in fact his first. This works better as there is a more sustained focus once it is developed. Not sure about the way he ends it though.

After loving the Prince series by Gerlis I decided to try this one. Spoilers ahead.
Even though I thought it was good, the plot was a bit messy. The main part of the story is about Operation Fortitude, the Allies' operation to confuse the Germans about the location of the invasion of Europe. They wanted to fool the Germans that the main attack was at Pas de Calais instead of Normandy, so they used turned German spies and other methods to keep fooling the Germans even after the Allies had landed in Normandy.
The whole plot is convoluted. Nathalie, an Alsatian nurse is sent to England via Dunkirk during the evacuation as a German spy. The Brits decide to feed her disinformation by allowing her to marry a naval officer and giving him fake info. I mean, they could have done that by simply turning her and threatening her with death like the other 99% of German spies. No need to destroy his life. Then they decide to send her back to France as a SOE agent to continue the misinformation. Whyyyyy? 100% not necessary. Then the second half of the story becomes romance between the two of them.
I like the author because his writing is smooth and really easy to read and follow. I like his build up and depiction of characters that make them feel real. He also does a great job on describing the Holocaust from those characters' POV.
But overall, I only give this book 3 stars because it seems like he had a good story to tell but he made it unnecessarily complicated. I fast read a lot of the pages that had to do with the romance. I'm now on the 2nd book of the series.

הספר מתאים מאוד לחובבי ז'אנר הרומן ההיסטורי.
אבל אם אתם מחפשים פרטים ועובדות, זה פחות הספר שיתאים לכם. אני אישית הייתי יותר רוצה לשמוע על המבצע או על ריגול מאשר סיפור האהבה שעומד במרכז הספר.
זה מאוד בעייתי שהדמות המרכזית מקבלת ממש קול רק באמצע הספר, זה הופך את התהליך שהיא עוברת ללא אמין. יש גם כמה פרטים אחרים שהופכים את הסיפור למאוד לא אמין.

DNF. Strange writing style which leaves you cold and unengrossed even through what are supposed to be very emotional scenes. The main protagonist is not fully developed, and so it is hard to get to know her or understand her motives. Not as good as people say it is.

Best spy novel I have ever read. Ever.
All spy stories should be this devious. Lt. Quinn, having been returned to England following his ship being bombed into oblivion off Crete, falls in love with one of his nurses. Unbeknownst to him she is a German spy in deep cover, but the spymasters in Bletchley Park know it and are manipulating their relationship so they can turn her into a double agent without her, or his, knowledge. “He has no idea whatsoever who she is. He is unaware of what is going on. Thinks this beautiful Frenchwoman who is two years older than him has fallen in love with him. He is like the cat that has found the cream, gallons of the stuff, in fact.” The idea is to feed her all sorts of false information leading to an assumption that the real invasion of the continent will take place at Pas de Calais and not Normandy which they want the Germans to believe is just a diversion. Then she is sent to France.
Not only is it a terrific spy novel, but a good love story, as well and nicely set in an historical context. You will begin to question good and evil and whether the end can ever justify the means.

I enjoyed reading this book, but it never enthralled me. The pacing in the second half of the book seems better but, perversely, I preferred the story arc in the first half.
As others have commented, the proof-reading for the ebook version is appalling. Though that really affected my reading enjoyment, I have not marked it down for that.
