Oh, I loved this book! I may even like it better than The Wilder Life, although that one was awesome too. I loved her style of writing and her sense of humor. And I was as interested in what was happening in her life as much as the Laura content.
Spoiler I was really rooting for the happy, happy ending, but what actually happened was the perfect wrap-up to the whole Laura theme, and she hit the nail on the head.
Loved it, loved it, loved it!

This was a fun, enjoyable read and made me wish I knew what happened to my own Yellow Box Set. It brought back fond memories of my Laura obsession, my fascination with Garth Williams' illustrations and my disregard for the TV show of the same name. I was never a Anne of Green Gables person either.

However, this isn't just a cute little trip down memory lane in a calico dress--it's a raw examination of the author's own life and I liked how she wove her road trip story with her own self exploration. She has to reconcile Laura the historical figure with the romanticized pioneer Laura of the books, while summoning her spirit Laura for strength.

I'd like to read the other Laura memoir referenced in this book now--and of course, re-read the Books.
