This was my delve into alt comix, and it was a massive disappointment. While a few of the excerpts were excellent (Hostage specifically) I just don't get why half of these comics are literally grotesque. Oh you want to show something "real?" Cool. I don't need to see vomit and puss on every other page to get the point across. Not to mention that many of the art styles were just... awful. I really didn't get it.
