Everything was so wrong, everything was abhorrent and revolting, and yet I found myself totally absorbed in the darkness of this book.

This story was extremely disturbing, yet so sad. The wickedness of these characters, the atrocities that happened were beyond words, but there was this misery, this sadness in the atmosphere throughout the book that really gripped me. My feelings were so conflicted while reading, it was unsettling.

The only thing I could say is that the end felt a little abrupt, but it was absolutely amazing.

I have conflicting feelings about Ty; sometimes I just really hated him. Albeit just a small blurb in what was an overall fucked up & bleak story, Ty’s little story of sometimes driving up to look out at the city from Griffith Observatory was a favorite of mine - if you’ve ever lived in LA and gazed out at the nighttime city lights from the Observatory, this is such a relatable feeling (or at least it was for me lol). “Swathed in twinkling golden light, quiet and serene, it’s almost like it isn’t killing me.”

don’t waste your time. the first chapter of this book sets you up to think this will be an incredible read. spoiler alert, it isn’t. read it in one sitting and really wish i hadn’t. after reading dead inside, people told me this was morrison’s best work. i disagree entirely. not worth the read whatsoever, very glad it was on KU and therefore did not pay for it.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this book after reading Dead Inside. I guess that really is the big thing that I love about Chandler Morrison’s writing. I have absolutely no idea what to expect. I love reading books where authors are not afraid to cross a line. This one is one of those stories. Some pretty fucked up shit happened in this book and yet I could not put it down. I read it in one sitting.

Is this a book I would recommend to a lot of people? Probably not too many as I don’t think most of them could handle it. Will I recommend it to my book club where people join specifically to read about the most fucked up and taboo stories? Absolutely

This book is fucking gnarly. Really fucking gnarly. I don’t know what else to say. It rules. Don’t look at me like that. Actually, don’t look at me at all.
