Hard to rate this. On the one hand it’s one of the very best looking comics I’ve ever encountered, and the story is fast and excited in almost all the ways you want a blockbuster story to be. There’s something missing though, some of its build up, some of it is connective tissue, and the lady of it is properly guiding the story into an ending.

I love these issue. They are among the ones I prize most in my collection of floppies. And upon rereading I get to love it all again for the same reasons. But I think it’s missing 1.5 issues or so, there isn’t any fat on it I don’t want to give that impression but it is also missing build up in certain elements like Bruce’s fear toxin visions, the city is fine one mount and Uber siege in a few pages, certain elements of Snyder’s science fiction elements are brilliant but placed in the story with brute force.

And at the same time the pencils are beautiful and kinetic and say and do so much for this story. As great as the pencils are this story in particular is made as good as it is with ink and color. This story and this run as a whole are made in masterworks with the efforts of Danny Miki and FCO Plascencia.

The story is not empty or hollow it’s BIG larger then life and larger then the total issue count allows for. But it is the best looking Batman story this century and one of the most exciting in the sincere work from every part of the team.

It’s a rare comic that wasn’t given enough issues for the story they intended but it’s everything you can want out of a monthly comic book title. Hell it’s a blockbuster story that deserves all the credit I can give because it did everything possible to be what it intended.
