Well, just like that I am out of Mira Grant books again. This story was wonderful in that deeply chilling way she has in all of her books under this name. Also horrifying and all too plausible. Hopeful though. More hopeful than I would be. I can absolutely see anti-vaxxers bringing about the end of humanity.

An interesting story premise that lived up to the synopsis. It didn't blow me away but I still really enjoyed it. My first story by the author (either this pseudonym or her main) and I'm looking forward to reading more.

I hope this is a prequel to a forthcoming series because I'd love to know more about this world/story.

Kingdom of Needle & Bone is an interesting pandemic novella. I found the writing style a bit too dense and info dumping to enjoy it. The plot isn't a plot, it kind of feels more like an idea or a scenario. There is a fun plot twist but ultimately not much payoff.
Izzy is a practitioner trying to deal with mounting political movements about bodily autonomy after a worse version of measles begins to spread that is named after her niece she's forced to take drastic measures to ensure the safety of herd immunity.
Idk probably like a 2/5, There's not anything wrong with it but past the ending, I don't think I'll remember anything about this story. It's a pandemic scenario, tagged as horror but not really.

Wow this was a very good novella! I listened to it on audio and it was a great experience.
The fact this was written in 2018 before the pandemic makes this a very poignant read and could be triggering for some.
The end left me shook!

'The Kingdom of Needle and Bone' by Mira Grant is a short novel about a horrifying subject right from our headlines.
A medical doctor vaccinates her niece before her niece heads out on vacation. Her parting words are cautionary words to the parents to avoid the theme park as they are full of disease. Her niece gets sick with a new strain of sickness and dies before the vaccine takes hold. The aunt is left with grief and a resolve to protect people, even if it's against their wills.
This is a story about a horrible disease. It's also a good cautionary tale. Mira Grant writes characters that feel pretty real. Her situations seem pretty plausible to me as well. This is a timely story.
