Match Cut was my first book by Julie Olivia!
I really liked it, it was a very easy read and not too heavy.
I've always loved the trope of brothers best friend so when i saw that this is what it is i had to give it a go!
I'm quite glad i did, i really liked Julie's style of writing. It hooks you and flows well.
I really liked the chemistry between Violet and Keaton, it just felt easy and natural.
If you looking for a lighthearted easy read then I'd definitely give this a try!

I read this a long time ago so I don't remember too much of it but it was a fun read. The plot development was great and the characters were swoon-worthy. I really liked the brother's best friend trope with a brother who was willingly accepting of the MC's relationship with his best friend. I did not expect him to play the matchmaker but I think Julie's writing made it refreshing to see a different ending to this trope. I was a little disappointed by the following book because it just didn't match the energy of the first book but if anyone's looking for a quick country romance read, this is definitely a good choice.

I basically devoured this book in one sitting! I read an ARC of Present Perfect (Foxe Hill #2) and loved it, so I was excited to read this one. I need a third now!!!

When Violet, an award-winning documentarian, returns home to brainstorm ideas for her next movie she doesn’t expect everything to be the same, especially her feelings for Keaton, her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. As for Keaton, some things have changed, but his feelings for Violet have not. What will happen when the spark fly between Violet and Keaton?

Match Cut is fun, feel-good, quick read from Julie Olivia. It’s low-angst, low drama, which can be perfect after some heavier books, but it just didn’t hit right for me in the moment I read it. I enjoyed the concept behind the story and the writing style was exactly what I expect from Julie Olivia, but I just wish there had been a little more meat to the story. I still enjoyed the experience of this book, and I will be checking out the second book in the Foxe Hill companion series.

Give Match Cut a try if you enjoy the following:

✔️ Small Town
✔️ Brother’s Best Friend
✔️ Friends to Lovers
✔️ Return to Hometown
✔️ First Person Dual POV

The one spicy scene was the only thing I liked about this book. Not for me

[I received an arc for an honest review]

Match Cut is a cute new romance by author Julie Olivia. An ''older brother's best friend" trope with a small town setting.

Violet left her small town to make documentaries. Her first film was a success, but she's hit a major writers block and is hoping a relaxing summer at home with give her her next big idea. She doesn't have to time nurse the crush she's always had on her older brother's best friend Keaton. Turns out Keaton also has a crush for her and when he volunteers to help her with her next project their feelings for each other come out. But they have to keep it on the down low because her brother would not be pleased. In the end when it comes to her next film she has to decide between staying true to herself or selling out.

""Two, five, seven.. it doesn't matter how many years pass; the flipping in my stomach at the mention of Keaton's name has never faltered."

This was a really easy read. While it had some good sexual tension build up between Violet and Keaton, it wasn't drawn out and complicated by a bunch of drama. The romance between them is comforting and a slow burn. Their habit of sneaking into the old theater to watch films before it opened was adorable and made me wish I had grown up in a small town. Foxe Hill and its residents will put a smile on your face.

In the end, Match Cut was a light small town romance with a cozy feel. This is not my first Julie Olivia, and she will continue to be an author whose books I look forward to.
