I really like Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series so I thought I'd give this one a go. Sadly it just did not work for me at all. The romance was really rushed, the heroine exceedingly wimpy and the plot was really average. I think I'm going to pass on this series.

I really enjoyed the lords of the underworld set, so I thought this would've been similarly written. This reads like it was typed out with a formula all in one afternoon. No beleiveabliity to the plot, no depth to the characters. I literally rolled my eyes through this whole thing because it was so predictable and shallow.

A great mix between humour, romance and action. A really quirky read with characters that you can really relate it. I absolutely ADORED Grace and can't wait to read more of this series!

Not a big reader of this genre. The writing style didn't work for me.

Loved this story. Wonderful! Narrator was just fine, as well.

Heart of the Dragon was another one of those books that I dove into for a challenge. It also doesn't hurt that it was free on KU either. So I'll even admit that I was a little intrigued to dive into it. Anything with dragons is bound to be amazing - right?

Well, it was wishful thinking. Now I'm not saying it downright terrible because it had potential to be better than it was. It was still an okay book but I couldn't connect with the characters. Especially with Grace. Oh man, I just wanted to shake her sometimes because she was very infuriating to read about. I feel like if she whined less than I might have liked her a bit more. No promises though.

Besides her, there's Darius. Out of the two, I liked him a lot more and their bantering put on a smile on my face. Sometimes. I wouldn't necessarily say he frustrated me but I don't see how he could like a girl like Grace. Love must be blind.. and deaf.

In the end, their romance was okay and it had some heated moments that I enjoyed. I just think a lot of what happened was a bit predictable. Maybe the next book will be better?

Anyone who enjoys reading Mills and Boon will love this book. This was porn with a corny love story that doesn't seem to be based on anything except, "Omg he/she is so sexy!"
The rest of the plot was ridiculous, not that anyone would have noticed because the author distracted everyone with sex, sex and... more sex?
I won't bother reading the next three that I own. Off to the book trader's they go.

A Passion-Filled Entry Into The Paranormal World Of Atlantis

I have read other books by Gena Showalter and love her ability to throw me feet-first into the passionate relationships that she creates.

Heart of The Dragon is the first book in her paranormal romance series - Atlantis. Although I was not as completely engrossed in this tale as those I've read in her Lords Of The Underworld series, I still found myself holding my breath during the battle scenes, exercising my intellect to solve the mystery aspect, smiling sloppily at the romance and blushing like mad with titillation during the sexual build-up and the sex scenes themselves.

I don't think that there will be anything wrong with this book. As soon as I started reading it I knew it was not the type of book that I enjoy so I quickly stopped reading it. I'd received it as a gift and thought I should at least try it but it just wasn't for me. My rating is no reflection on the book or author.

Pretty good read although it felt rushed at the end.
