Beautiful and emotional novel about interconnected lives in a small seaside village in Mexico. Each chapter is told from a different character's perspective and most could easily function as separate short stories. The time jumps from chapter to chapter occasionally made the story seemed a bit disjointed, but thematically it was quite cohesive.

This is a story of the intertwined lives of the everyday people in the small village of Santiago - filled with their struggles and hardships, and how they choose to continue living each day. I admire each of the characters’ grittiness, hopefulness, and resolve.

This book gives representation and importance to the lives of ordinary people, and highlights that strength and resilience is seen in many forms.

Best 75 cents I've ever spent. Enchanting from cover to cover.

Short stories set in Mexico. it is where certain characters intertwine with each other. No story can stand alone because of this shared characters mechanism. Almost dreamlike in it's prose.

I enjoyed this book. I had never heard of it before until I found it in a little free library and decided to take a chance on it. It is told in interwoven short stories about a town. It is heartbreaking and sweet in equal measure and while I don't think it will be a favorite of all time, I enjoyed it.

Each chapter of this book tells of a different character in the city of Santiago - almost like a book of short stories, but woven together to show a complete picture of life in this small village. Simply, elegantly written - a quick read.
