A nice little breather story, this isn’t as action-packed as the prior two InCryptid prequels. I like that this serves as Frances’s larger introduction to the Cryptids and the Prices’ world (without the cryptids trying to kill her the whole time). It’s not as solid as the previous story, but I think it’s more due to the fact that this is largely character interaction as opposed to “shooting a lot of things that are going to eat us.” I wouldn’t say skip it, but don’t look down on the fact that there’s not a lot of action banter going on here.

I liked this one better than "One Hell Of A Ride" because we learnt a lot more about this world. Though not much happens, it was enjoyable and now i'm really excited about starting "Discount Armageddon". I think reading these stories beforehand has been a great idea to get me used to the world and the creatures in it. And i love the talking mice - they're so cute!! :) So, yeah, i'm looking forward to starting the series for real now.

Fran meets the Healys and falls in love with cryptozoology.  This short, sweet story shows that the Price-Healy family has always been slow to add new members which is its own tragedy.

I really enjoyed this story. Another short that comes before the main series, we're still observing Jonathan and Fran. I liked getting to know Jonathan's parents and home town and seeing how Fran reacted to it all. I enjoyed seeing more of the Aislin Mice and seeing how Jonathan's parents reacted to Fran. I'm excited to continue the stories...

A short story in which we read about Jonathan's "denseness", Fran's wit and the Aeslin mice considerate nature... :)

After an adventurous trip from Arizona to Michigan, Jonathan sure is glad to be home. Now he just has to explain Fran to his parents and see if she will stay.

I have yet to read book one, but it seems No Place Like Home may be a story to fill in the "how did Fran come to stay" question (as it is implied this is a question in book 1). There is little plot to this story, furthering the feeling of additional information for book 1. However, I did enjoy it, especially the conversations between characters which seems to be the strength of this series judging from the prequels. But it isn't especially an animal friendly series unless you are a horse or religious mouse due to the taxidermy and hunting etc. that takes place.

I enjoyed this - it was great to get sight of what the Healy family home looked like two hundred years before the novels, and to see more of the characters who're quoted through the litanies of the Aeslin Mice in later novels.

This short from the Incryptid universe was less successful for me than the previous one; though I enjoyed it, it felt a little rushed and a little impenetrable for me.
