JUSTICE FOR THE MONSTER!!!!! lets give him a name bc frankenstein is the real monster. ik this book is always discussed as a cautionary tale against playing god, but i think its also a commentary on how society looks down upon anything different. the monster just wanted to be accepted for who he was and to make friends but everyone rejected him, even his own creator. he lived a life of no love and misery, ending in a horrible death. if frankenstein had accepted him from the beginning or listened to him later and made a female counterpart, no one would have died. in the end everything would have been better if frankenstein hadn't felt the high of power and wanted more. he could have used his findings for good. as i said, frankenstein is the real monster.
and this isnt me saying anything new, but this book truly was beautiful. the characters and story was complex, and you can identify with all of them. frankenstein is sweet to his family and friends, but horrible to the monster. you can begin to love him when you forget how he treats him after he first created him. the monster is good in the beginning but becomes an unrecognizable murderer.
the book is just page after page of hopeless loneliness, no matter where you are.
