That really picked up in the last fifth of the book. Almost worth reading the whole thing, but now I want to read more.

It's a good classic sci-fi read. It's a combination of mystery, with a Noire flavor, while having a solid layer of science fiction.

The physics and concepts pass a quick inspection for accuracy, without being overly detailed. Story takes precident, which is always an important element. I like realistic concepts, but if I want hard detailed physics, I'll read a textbook, not a fiction story.

The characters were likable, and it was easy to care what happened to them. The ending felt a little weak, but its setting up a series of books, so it gets some leeway.

Overall, a very enjoyable read and I recommend it.

I really wanted to love this book, but it ended up being very okay. It had an intriguing central mystery and I love sci-fi politics, but I did not care for any of the characters and the way it was written was too convoluted to keep up with.
