Fascinating premise, and I was hooked. I wish there had been more focus on Dani and Carmen resisting the roles they had to play in addition to resisting the corrupt government.
There was a good mix of action, romance, and introspection. I didn't have great feelings about how women were treated in this book, but I think it will get better in the sequel.

This BOOK!!! I received this book in a set of LGBTQ+ books, and for the majority of the book I was wondering when it was going to get gay. I didn't think I would like a book that took 200 pages before anything even remotely gay happened, but this book is amazing. It was so refreshing to read an LGBTQ+ friendly book where that wasn't the entire story line. Dani and Carmen's relationship left me feeling so many different things, and I can't wait to read the second book.

We Set the Dark on Fire is such an incredible story with so many twists and turns all the way up to the last page. The concept of a primera and segunda is so interesting and a new take on polyamory that I thoroughly enjoyed.
