Vin is the strong silent type. He's been separated from his parter of 6 years for 3 months and he's so looking forward to her return. Poor Vin, I felt his pain so deeply when she came home engaged. I love how Lauren kept him honorable! Jill!! She is so confused!! She just needed tiime and guidence! This was my favorite of the series.
I can tell I'm not the only one who feels like we were left hanging with Marc and Elena's stories didn't get told. I read that LL has stated it's a maybe situation. IMO, if you are going to write such good secondary characters you should have a plan to tell their stories too!!

Okay seriously, every time I finish one of these books I decide it is my favorite. So obviously this one is now my favorite. I mean, can you blame me? These Moretti's brothers are something else, right?! I've been impatiently waiting to finally hear Vincent and Jill's story since book one.
The sexual tension was strong with this one. There would be these brief moments where you just knew something was finally going to happen and then nope, one of them would shut it down. But let me tell you, when that tension finally breaks...watch out!
Like I've said before about this series, it's not just the romance aspect of each book that draws you in, it's the whole Moretti family dynamic. I just want a damn Sunday brunch with them, is it too much to ask? I'm assuming that we'll be getting at least two more books from this series because I really want to read both Elena and Marcus' story.
This series is quickly turning into one of my favorites!!

I try to like this book more than 3 stars. I read the previous book in this series, which I have luke warm feeling. I took a chance and pick up Cuff Me.
The writing is indeed the signature of Miss Layne. The sarcastic sweet dan alive conversations. The romance is OTT just like the other books in this series. I do like Vin. He is a bit dorky when approaching Jill. As a tough cop, he became shy when it comes to romance. Shy and clueless. There is that sweet clueless about him.
Overall i do like this book OK.

Cuff me is the third and final book in the "New York's finest" series by Lauren Layne, and boy she didn't disappoint. As always she kept me up all night.
We've met Jill and Vincent in the former two books and I couldn't wait for their book to finally hit my kindle.
Jill is the sassy and good natured partner of the brooding and silent Vincent Moretti. Well, not the kind of partner Jill hopes for... More like coworker in the homicide division of the NYPD.
When Jill returned from Florida after helping out her mother, Vincent can't wait to see her. She's been away for three month and he didn't think he could miss her that much. His partner was gone way too long for his taste. When he's showing up at her "welcome back" party he's up for a big surprise.
Jill missed New York. After three month of the sunny Florida, she's ready to be back in her beloved job and with her adopted family, the Morettis. Well, one Moretti in particular. She was gone for a long time and a lot has changed in her life.
She's been waiting for Vincent to come to his senses for ever and now she's done waiting for something what might never happen at all.
I thought I knew what'll happen in the book, but Lauren Layne surprised me with the twist. I didn't see it coming at all. What made the story a lot more difficult to turn out as I wanted it to be. But, as always, she made it even better then any of my imaginations.
I loved Jills and Vincent's connection. The sparks are flying freely.
The book had the right amount of suspense for my liking and kept me on my toes.
My advice for you guys, pick it up and start reading ASAP!!!

Vincent is my favorite Moretti brother, but I do not like him as a hero. I hate Jill; she is selfish and shallow. Vincent is emotionally stunted. I felt nothing about their relationship, honestly, both in the platonic and romantic sense. In this book and the two before it, we are meant to believe that they are best friends and have been friends for six years, yet every interaction did not reflect that. They didn't even know much about each other beyond the superficial.
It also annoyed me how, for a significant portion of the book, Jill was still engaged to Tom and that it took her so long to share the news of them calling it off. And when Jill and Vin got together, Jill suddenly wanted Vin to spill his guts out when she knew full well how closed off Vin was. Worse, when they started, Jill never mentioned anything about love or wanting it all, then two weeks later, she practically calls it off because she wanted to go out for dinner and she needed to hear that Vin might love her. Dude. I'm not saying she deserves to deal with a guy like Vin who has a hard time dealing with emotions, but she knew what she was going into. What about that shit about loving Vin for who he is? Sounds to me like she buys into the fantasy of her changing a man.
I did not care for the murder mystery, and the trip to California was useless. I think Lauren Layne just added it, in case she decides to write Marco's book in the future. Who knows.

The piiiinne in this!! Vin is the piniest of heroes and I love him. This isn't one of Lauren Layne's more popular works but that's a shame because it's one of my favorites. There's also a rather spectacular partner in peril scene. One critique though- this book would definitely have benefited from an epilogue.

This was pretty good! Friends (and partners!) to lovers, which is something I tend to really enjoy. The family stuff in this was all super great, and I enjoyed the romance development, with Vin being in denial at the beginning before slowly coming to realize his feelings. I also really appreciated that Jill’s fiance wasn’t secretly evil or terrible, he and Jill just weren’t right for one another. I definitely liked this a lot more than the last Lauren Layne book I read, I Wish You Were Mine; I may just be getting tired of the Oxford universe rather than Lauren Layne’s writing in general. But anyways, I enjoyed this quite a bit!

Another excellent book by Lauren Layne. I have always enjoyed friends to lovers stories and this was a great take on that genre. My only real issue was

Jill not telling Vin she wasn't engaged anymore. Story line wise I get the choice because it added some good drama when he found out. However, realistically I didn't see why someone would make that choice. Jill is a reasonable person and it didn't make sense to me.Overall I did enjoy this book as I enjoy all LL books. I really hope we see more of the Moretti family!

Having read the prior book, I knew that CUFF ME was going to have some delicious tension. I was not wrong. Oh, the sexual tension and angst was thick enough to cut with a knife! As I read more and more books from LL, I've absolutely fallen in love with her storytelling ability. CUFF ME had the perfect amount of angst that created this working relationship between the two characters that was fraught with sexual awareness. But it also had the delectable heart-aching barrier known as 'I want him/her and it's killing me not to have him/her' that was so wonderful to read. It created a lot of belly flops and painful chest twinges just being on each side of the story, and you won't want to stop reading until the end.
Vin and Jill have been partners on the force for 6 years and, in that time, not one advance has been made. With Vin being the closed-off type, choosing to hide behind the persona of the 'angry guy' that no one can get close to, it doesn't leave much room for someone to even try to get in. Only one person has managed to get under both his persona and his skin: Jill. But even with her under there, it doesn't leave her any room to actually break down those emotional barriers of his, and she's been trying. When Jill finally gives up hope that Vin will wake up and smell the damn roses (i.e. her feelings for him, and feelings that eveeerrryone can see, his entire family included), she moves on. And suddenly, Vin smells those very fragrant and very bright roses. So much so that it's a glaring beacon in a stormy night at sea directing his ship home.
I'm just going to say that this was a delicious book, probably my favorite of this series. I loved Jill and Vin's friendship and the way that their complete polar opposites clicked together so perfectly. That mixed with the crime story that evolved throughout the entire novel made it enjoyable in more ways than one. I think most, like me, will stay up to read this book start to finish because it was too good to step away from. LL created two more amazing characters for readers to connect and fall in love with, and I greatly look forward to who else she'll create for us. I highly recommend this book!
