Another fun movement book in the series by Doreen Cronin and Scott Menchin. This one starts at the beginning of the day and ends at bedtime.

My daughter got this from a book subscription her grandfather gave her and it's one of our favorite bedtime stories (especially for those nights when you want something a little shorter!). Like another reviewer, we usually wiggle to each page. The illustrations are nice - a mix of real photos and sketched elements - nothing fancy but cute and not ugly like a lot of children's books can be.

It's got a nice rhythm - I can see what some reviewers mean about it being awkard but it really isn't - it's not matchy rhymes like a poem but more like a conversation.

Full of energy and whimsy, this book is a great one to help the active listeners get their wiggles out with movement and rhyme. This would be a great one to include for storytime when the wiggles have begun or would make for a terrific choice for an inclusive storytime.

Wiggle features an adorable puppy wiggling out of bed, with some fish, with a crocodile, with some polar bears and on the moon. The illustrations feature a cartoon dog and animals with a picture of a real item like a rug, an alarm clock or a piano on each page. Children will enjoy wiggling with the dog. Caregivers can wiggle them into bed with the tired dog at the end of the book. The rhyme in the book will help children develop phonological awareness.

I love reading this book for storytime. Although I recommend this book for kids 0-6, I have seen older kids enjoying it as well during Family Storytime.

The key is to be as interactive as possible. As the reader, make sure you get everyone (including parents) to wiggle along. Take time to use different voices and movements. Everyone goes crazy when I ask them to wiggle ooh ooh eek eek like a gorilla, or wiggle bzzz bzzz like a bee! Don't be afraid to be as silly or as loud as possible.

It's a great way to start storytime by letting the kids wiggle away their wiggles. It helps them concentrate and stay calm for the rest of storytime. It's also a fun away to end storytime when everyone gets wiggly after sitting for too long.
