another 5 star read for the series!! I didn't think it could get better than the first book but WOW! JUST WOW! Shannon and Johnny are everything to me. I never thought that I would become as emotionally attached to teenagers as I did but boy was I wrong. This book is 100% a tearjerker so caution to all who read to not read in a public place like I did (I read it at work and sobbed every day). The Kavanagh family are god sent angels, especially Johhny's parents. His mom telling everyone
"I don't just want one, I want them all" UGH THE FACE THAT THEY BECAME THEIR FOSTER PARENTS?!?!?!?
I love the dynamic of the friend group as a whole and I am super excited to keep reading! I know that each friend will have their story told so Joey & Aiofe are next but personally I need to know more about Lizzie and why she is the way she is. The ending shocked me a bit, I was not expecting
Joey to return to school at Tommen.
The
fire was so shocking to me but as I was reading I had a feeling that the dad was going to come back and try to off the whole family. He gives "If I can't have them nobody can" vibes. That and the fact that the mom sacrificed herself for her kids?!?!
I knew in the end she would do the right thing for her kids. Shannon & Johnny at the festival listening to "Hear You Me" and dedicating it to her mom was the final nail in the coffin. If I could rate this a 6 star read I would!

okay sooo,, my main issues with this book are the exact same as the first one, so i wont go too into detail, but specificaly the length of this book was killing me. 800 pages?!?! for what?!?! it could easily have been half the length, and i feel like the last few chapters were a little rushed, but still cute ig?😝
but anyway, my favorite part of this series is definetly the characters (truly what is the plot??? also
why tf did johnnys parents adopt them, like sure cute ig, but really???
), but i feel like we left on such a weird note with Lizzie and Gibsie?? like wtf was that about?? problem is i have to read 2000 fucking pages to find out😠. BUT!!! shannons character development omg🥲 shes like the sweetest sweetheart ever and i LOVED to see her heal!! (
but i wish they wouldve gotten out sooner so we could see more of happy her
, and i really appreciate that they gave her space to do that. i often feel like authors cant develop their characters well, when theyre getting over something traumatic, because it can be difficult to see who the character is, if not their trauma and issues. luckily i feel like the author did her character justice!🙃 also in the first book i HATED how they adressed body image etc. but i feel like they did a way better job in this book, highlighting that shannons situation wasnt healthy. i lovee that shannons weightgain is seen as positive by everyone, and that the author let her do that, even though her size had been made such a big deal throughout the first book!

edit: been a few days, but i had to come back and add this becauseeeee,
i cant stop thinking about that fucking funeral. WHAT WAS THAT?!? like im actually wondering if the author has ever been to one??? like wdym you ask this rando, MID FUNERAL mind you, to CARRY YOUR MOMS CASKET??? like joey barely knew gibsie, and what was with the silly nickname, like time and place??? its actually pissing me off soooo bad, like didnt joey have any friends?? also are women just not aloud to carry caskets in ireland?? WHAT IS GOING ON?!? WHY IS FEELY SINGING??? FEELY OF ALL PEOPLE???????? this is so stupid i dont think ill ever get over it😠

There was a lot of heartache in this one for me. I didn’t  think that Chloe Walsh would be able to keep me invested in Shannon and Johnny for *another* 600+ page book, but here we are and she kept my ADHD brain engaged.

PS- I would have loved to get more Johnny and Sean. But that might just be me ovulating…

Hi, Johnny.
Hi, Shannon.
I wasn't so sure about this series as I do not typically like reading about high schoolers. This book was so emotional. I cried a lot. I'm so happy the Lynch kids are healing. Cannot wait to continue this series.
