It lagged at times, but overall it was pretty good. I cannot wait to see Nagash again.

How the greatest necromancer in the Warhammer fantasy world rose to power. I've loved ancient Egypt and seeing it reproduced in a warhammer fantasy setting was satisfying.
Finished this a second time and I've found things that I didn't notice before. The story becomes a bit more in to focus on later readings. Still love this one, I hope my wife will enjoy it too.

Trash. Just okay enough to keep you reading, but with a tired resignation at the needlessly grim and war-focused fantasy and nothing much to say other than a cycle of "This noble person strove against the Usurper, then was dashed when he realized he was four steps behind the whole time, and evil Nagash did something heinous and repulsive just 'cause. Repeat from step 1." I'll try other works from the universe, but likely not this author.

This was a 500+ page book that easily could (and should) have been 250. The core of a good book is here. We have a good cast and a fun villain, lots of battles, and an interesting world. The problem is that it drags on and on with pointless feeling scenes and battles.

This book just didn't work for me on any level. Repetitive battles, lack of any kind of character development...
