Tough but necessary read. Scary how prevalent this issue is.

This book was about prostitution in the U.S. and how the average age of prostitution is 13 years old. It gave various situations and perspectives of what pimps do to lure in girls and gain control over them, what the girls go through in their conditioning, what some of the "Johns" might have a mindset of when they are going to them, what guardians might have to go through when they have a missing child, etc.

This book gave a fictional story (which is based off of real accounts of what many have gone through in which Linda Smith works with at Shared Hope) as well as general true facts at the end of each chapter to explain what goes on. It was very sad to read through and really helps you understand what goes on to these young girls in our country.

It is a very easy read. A shocking revelations on current events of child prostitution. While it is a tough book to read, necessary to truly understand what is going on in America with our youth!

5 stars.

A necessary read for anyone. This book was recommended in my human trafficking course in grad school. Everything in this book checks out and is on point with the information given. Highly recommend.

Also. Go add Girls Like Us by Rachel Lloyd to your TBR if you need another really well done anti trafficking book

If you know little to nothing about sex trafficking in America, this book is THE book to read. Linda Smith, a former US Representative' founded Shared Hope International after encountering human trafficking in India and Nepal. To her great shock, she soon found that slavery was happening right her in the United States.

I say this book is the best place to start because it is a quick read written in story form. Through the book the story is told of girls in Las Vegas forced into prostitution, their pimps and the men who buy them. The end of each chapter consists of a brief summary, kind of like pulling teaching points out of the story. The stories are based on true stories Linda has come across in her work.

This is a book that every person should read. Children as young as ten and eleven are being forced into prostitution - many of them have been abused before and are runaways, others are kidnapped. They are then bought and used by men who, wrongly, think they have chosen this life. That is one of the biggest themes - without demand this would not happen, if men did not buy girls, sex trafficking would cease.

I highly recommend this book and also recommend you check out the website and work of Shared Hope International.

A truly gripping heartwrenching read. This book told stories that were tragic and yet the truth. I meant to only read a chapter; I read all night long.
