I feel like I want someone who reads theory every day, but isn’t an ass wipe when doing so, to sit down and tell me what they thought. Honestly a woman. I don’t trust a man with an interpretation of this diddy. Very beautiful illustrations.

Bought this at the D&Q store and the guy from my creative writing class who works there said it was really good.

Story was ass. Like one of those 90's "man it sure sucks to work in an office" movies on Cough Syrup. VanderMeer gives the impression he's gesturing at something big & important when I'm actually pretty sure there's no core there.

Illustrations were pretty dope though, even if I'm not usually into graphic novels. I like the scribbly pen style and the way Ellsworth does faces.

Gonna make a cool coffee table book.

A searing takedown of the corporate world that eventually devolves/evolves in truly Vandermeerian fashion.

This was selected by my roommate. I liked the intrinsic detail that went into the artwork and enjoyed that it was about work life, but that is about it. I did not like the narrative for the most part. It was being subversive, which at this moment of my life just wasn't enjoyable. I think for other graphic novel fans, they would enjoy the way it presents its connection to the world. I just couldn't get into it, except in very minor parts.

Beautiful artwork that captures the eerie discomfort of VanderMeer’s writing.

Though I found this collection to contain a lot of less fully formed stories than Vandermeer’s usual output, it was equally full of GREAT short stories that every Vandermeer fan should read.

I recommend this to those already very familiar with the author’s work and his various worlds.

Someone show this to Gladwell, then we'll really see how he feels about going back to the office
