It was a good read but I kept feeling like something was missing. Like there was nothing really keeping me hooked to the story but I pushed through and finished it

While I did enjoy this (because I'm a sucker for tropes like brother's best friend), I really wish there was more drama when the story moved from the past to current timeline that started in the prologue. There really needed to be more tension and drama before the two should have been able to make up and get back together. Also a plot thread was left hanging with the information that Jace remembers that Farrah and Nathan's dad refusing to pay the robber that wound up killing him and his wife. Yes, I know Jace never told them (at least he didn't when the story ended), but it seems like throwing that in there would have led to something more plotwise, but maybe that's just me.

I’ve read other book by Penelope Ward, so I had a certain expectation going in. And that expectation was not lived up to. It might have been the different writing style, but mainly it was the “no character development” part for me. If you’re into reading mainly dialogues (conversations back and forth) go ahead.

I couldn’t finish this book. I read 4 chapters, think it might get better. I have no idea if it does take a turn for the good (since I didn’t read it) so be your own judge.

So many feelings with this book! The Crush will bring them all out in you!

Farrah and her older brother, Nathan, are all each other has after their parents died. Jace, Nathan's best friend, has been around and the object of Farrah's affections since she was young. As they are now older Jace starts to see her in a new light but the relationship with Nathan starts secrets that can only lead to heartbreak.

Like I said before this story will bring out all the feels. So much sadness and struggle for this family but it seems to make them appreciate the good so much more. The family and friendship dynamics were interesting to read and made this story a good one!

I thought I would enjoy this a bit more than I imagined but most of it just felt so heartbreaking, it was so sad. It ended up okay! But the entire time I was covering my face because the whole novel was filled with heartbreak in ways I hadn’t thought it would’ve been. Still a good read!
