This story seemed to be very heavily influenced by [b:The Day of the Triffids|530965|The Day of the Triffids|John Wyndham|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1320530145l/530965._SY75_.jpg|188517], but It did start to veer away from that story towards the end. I liked that we were able to see from the perspective of "The Gardener" and that although this was military sci-fi, it was not completely gung-ho. There is the possibility that humans were not the innocent victim attacked by a hostile alien entity of this story.
