Milo's Hat Trick is a book about a bumbling magician who can't seem to get his tricks right. His boss threatens to fire him unless he can pull a rabbit out of his hat for his next show, so Milo sets out to catch a rabbit. Surprisingly, his carrot bait instead lures in a helpful bear who has learned from a rabbit how to hide in hats. The drawings are simple and cartoonish, and manage to convey emotion well in spite of having blank circles for eyes and Milo's mouth being obscured by his large mustache. The bear's heavy brow in particular makes him seem almost constantly skeptical or bored. Milo's red hair and mustache are usually the brightest thing on the page, drawing attention to him. Recommended for grades K-3.

Another enjoyable Imagination Library book. Both of my kids, but especially my toddler, enjoyed this book.
It was fun reading about the helpful bear that Milo finds to star in his magic show. Not only does the bear he’ll save Milo’s show, he even teaches Milo a few things.
The story kept my kids’ attention, and the illustrations were okay, if a little dated.

Milo the magician needs to spice up his magic act or else! He goes out to catch a rabbit to train, but instead he meets a bear, a bear with a remarkable talent. Turns out this bear has a thing or two to teach Milo. This is a wacky story with a fun ending that's bound to please a group for read-aloud. Large format with soft pencil and watercolor illustrations. Hibernation/bear unit connection?

Milo isn't a very talented magician. Given one last chance to please his audience Milo goes into the forest to find a rabbit to pull out of his hat. Instead, Milo finds a bear who agrees to help with the trick. But on the way back to the city to perform, Milo misplaces his hat. Will he be able to pull off a captivating show to save his job?

A story about a magician who can't do magic until he meets a bear who can hide in his hat. I like how Milo's whole face is his nose.

I found this book to be choppy, like it almost was missing pages.
