Not what I thought. I was confused but still felt engaged with the story as it went darker. Definitely authors notes helped me digest what I just read. Think "You" but a clown.

Such an unnerving and complex story in such a short time. Superbly written and perfectly narrated. Still thinking about this story long after listening to it. Also the authors notes were really interesting, so nice to hear the author talk about his experiences, motivations and feelings around his own work. Very current and highly recommend this.

This is what it looks like when a man becomes too obsessed and ends up snapping. The Clown Brigade is about a guy who rushes off across the country to surprise his "girlfriend". He shows up at her work with a single red rose. Only she isn't there - she left on a business trip. So, he has nothing to do but go back home.. money and time wasted. He's angry with his "ex" for being a tease on her online spin-cycle class.
This was really dark. It shows how deep an obsession can go, how far a person can take it, and how easily they can lose themselves in the chaos. It almost seems comical because he keeps seeing clowns everywhere, but then the ending.... that changes the whole outlook of the book. That's all say, besides...
Stephen Graham-Jones does it again!!
